Wacky Contour Problems ~~ Help!

i've got a '96 contour with an automatic tranny. i'm seeing intermittant loss of interior lights, dash lights, radio, etc., check battery light comes on intermittantly as well. also, the "overdrive is off" light flashes continuously and i lose engine power occasionally. anyone have any idea what might be causing any/all of this?

Overdrive light, is probably the speed sensor is going, Mine started flashing yesterday. But when I turned off the car it went off. But the speed sensor did go on my car a few years back, And the OD light was flashing then too. I have no clue about the dash lights.

do you have any other problems with headlights, radio, etc? stab in the dark here but maybe you should check the alternator.

Ford had a problem with the wiring harness on this model. If you did not get the wiring harness changed then you are having shorting problems with the wires. Basically, the insulation falls off while you are driving on all the wires under the hood.

it ended up being the alternator AND the wire to the battery . . . it was slipping through all of my amateur diagnostics by having two problems at once. in any event, it's all fixed . . . thanks for your help.
