no starts

aftrernoon from Northern Canada where last winter we dropped to as low as 45 degrees celcius. Anyways 30 degrees + today. Been having some some problems with my 01 silverado, 5.3L not starting. I have an aftermarket remote start.Keep in mind this happens sporatically. Go to start the truck with either the remote or key and the damn thing just keeps rolling over no fire. Let sit for 5 minutes damn thing fires right up laughing at me like as if nothing happend. 2 times now the security light has come on but other times not. As well if the security light comes on it is after a perfect no hassle start, but if I turn the the truck off try and start truck no start. Thought it was fuel pump had it checked when it acted up it is fine. Happens in +30 or -30 no pattern. As well gas gauge skrewd to but found solution on another forum. help would be appreciated

Re: no starts

This is very common. You either have a problem with the install of the remote start, parts used for the bypass, or the vehicle's Passkey II system is failing. Unfortunately, any of the above is very likely. I would start with the aftermarket items first then go on from there. It usually runs about $500 to have GM install a new Passkey decoder.
