Power Steering Problems

Hello there . . . I have a 97 cavalier LS and the power steering gave way yesterday while I was driving. I checked the steering fluid and it was real low. Filled it up to the top and by the time I got home all of the fluid was gone. I looked under the car and saw fluid dripping from either side of the car near each tire. Just curious if anyone has had a similar problem and if so what was done and how much did it cost. Thanks Alot!

First, you need to wash and dry the old leak area. Put fresh power steering fluid, and turning the steering full left and right a few times, do not lock it in one place for more than 10 secs, and observe the leak area now. You need to identify exactly where it is leaking from. 4 possibilities; 1, steering pump, 2. supply line, 3. return line and lastly the steering rack itself. The steering rack is the most expensive item.
Good Luck.
