65 Sedan DeVille bottom end swap

The 429 that is currently in the car is burning oil pretty bad. Enough when you stand on the throttle, you can't see behind you for all the blue smoke. What I was thinking of doing is finding a 500 ci short block and just swapping the bottom end out of the 429. Then I would just bolt everything else from the 429 back on top of the 500. Is this a good idea?

No.
1. The oil could be coming from your worn 429 heads. Bolting them onto a 500 might just give you the same problem.
2. All the 500's out there are 28 years old or more. Its risky to find one that is not worn or damaged.
3. Your 429 heads produce 10.5 :1 compression, which is about as high as you can get away with on todays premium gas. The extra volume of the larger 500's engine will boost the compression ratio (with the 429 heads) beyond what premium gas will tolerate. The engine will ping like 8 bolts in a tin can.
If you must have a 500, locate one from 1970 (400 hp instead of your car's 340 hp) and use the entire engine, heads and all. (Count on doing a rebuild first, unless you find a reeally good one)

Or rebuild your 429. Your car will be worth more with the original engine anyways.
