Service Engine Lamp!

My damned service engine lamp lit up...

Read the owner manual and it said it may probably due to running on low fuel, and the light will go off after a few driving trips. Well, I was indded driving on pretty low fuel (at least the fuel guage meter indicated so..), and the lamp lit up as I was heading for gas.

Have anyone experienced this "low fuel cause engine lamp to lit up and will go away after a few driving trip after filling it up" scenario?

I hae to think that its due to more serious thingy like oxygen sensors,..etc?

cheers

Re: Service Engine Lamp!

No I haven't heard of that, if I don't turn my key all the way to start my car it lights up..but that's no biggy! Um don't know what to tell you......When I'm running low on fuel my gas tank light doesn't come on, so I don't know how low I am until my car dies on me....Also I have a very sensitive low oil light
If it's slightly away from the mark it pops up like it's something major, I hate always having to check my oil to see if it's low.

Re: Service Engine Lamp!

low fuel could possibly cause a lean condition which would set the light, if there was an error code, it will be in history, if you really want to know what the problem was, the only way to find out is to have the codes scanned.

Re: Service Engine Lamp!

Codes were run on the car by my regular mechanic, and he said something abt tranny. He cannot find anything fishy abt my tranny though.. He erased the code, and since then, it had been fine for a day. Not sure whether the lamp will pop out again.. hate to see it come out though..

And yeah, camarochick.. the blue and black ones were mine.. the black was only a 94 V6 though, had only abt 101000 miles, but sounded more rough than the blue 96 RS that had much higher milage though.. I had more inclination to the blue one due to the color (???), but I love them both!
