Question Clutch Noises

I have a 1995 S-10 4 cyl. 5 speed with 60k miles. When I first crank it up the clutch operates fine. As the vehicle heats up (after maybe 10 - 15 miles) the clutch pedal gets very stiff and makes a loud squeeking noise. Recently in addition to the stiffness and squeeking, the pedal is sticking when I push it in. Any ideas on what might be wrong and what it might cost me to get it fixed.

Sounds like a throwout bearing going out. Seems a little short for that many miles but not unheard of.If you do a lot of stop and go or ride the clutch instead of taking it out of gear when sitting in traffic often, it might be cooked. Does it sound different when you push the pedel in?

As far as I can tell there is no diffrence in the sound, just the loud squeeking. I do, however, do a lot of city / stop-and-go driving. Any idea of what a fair price is to have the throw out bearing fixed. And should I have the entire clutch replaced while the transmission is dropped to fix the bearing?

I have no idea about price as I'm in Ca. We had a chain of "Clutchmarts" here that charged less then $300 for the whole job. The cost of the bearing is so small compared to the labor, you should do the clutch if needed. However, if there is plenty of material left on the disc, and the flywheel and pressure plate aren't worn, they should be ok. Try to find a shop that specializes in clutch or trannies to cut down on the labor time.
Good luck
