Question 4 banger GS performance dead end

alright, im the one who started the "HELP BAD WAKE UP CALL" well im doing alot better, though maybe im thinking too far ahead, i got the AEM CAI about to get a cat back this week, then im going to get the AEM TRU power pulleys (the belt snapped and took the others with it on an old POS of mine and i noticed how much performance can be gained by lessening the stress on your engine through pulleys), but with CAI, CAT back, and Pulleys, where else do i turn for horsepower? Port and polishing has passed through my head and i know a good machinist that does it for some of the local import people, but even if i got the port and polished with the cat back and the pulleys, i would be nowhere near my 200 HP goal, the only other things i can think of are a new cam, try to find some new cam gears, and pistons if i can find them, i will resort to nitrous if i have to, but what should i do to my engine first? i know i have alot of questions, i would really appreciate anyone who knows their 4 banger 3g and is willing to give me some tips

You will not be able to get 200whp from this motor without going to the internals. It is just not going to happen.

Same ourself some time and money and get a turbo kit. The 4G64 was made to be turbo'ed. Plain and simple. Mitsu got cheap and never added the turbo when they should have. The engine responds incredibly well to boost, and over 250whp is quite an easy feat with running only 8psi. The engine can take up to 15psi safely.

Well if you got several thousand dollars and u are or u know preferably an ASE Certified Mechanic with some pretty fancy Snap-On Tools...

One option AFTER the turbo could be to get better internals.

http://www.visionimports.com/Internals03.html

Get ready to open your engine cover, drain your oil and exchange your internals.

Racing Performance Works has a Turbo Camshaft which from what I hear is way better than the stock one. Also you got a 2.4L 16 Valve engine so you will also need Valve Springs for 16 Valves as well.

If you want performance pistons you can get Wiseco Pistons and for stronger connecting rods you can get Crower rods.

In theory this should make your internals more tuned and stronger for a Turbo and less strain should output to more HP.

Of course I may be wrong and flamed for this but why else would they sell this stuff if not to improve your engine?

Re: 4 banger GS performance dead end

Forged is better. But the con rods in the 4G64 are right out of the 4G63 in the 95-99 Eclipse GS-T/GS-X. The rods are good up to 22psi with proper tuning.

The RPW stage II cam is a turbo cam, but you will also get an idle that is no where near stock.

If you are planning on replacing your internals with forged items, I suggest that you take a step back and think about your goals for the car. If you really want forged and are planning on running lots of boost, I would say go for it. But if you are not planning to cross the 340whp mark, I would tell you to not worry about it.
