my budget options

well 300 won't get you very much "serious" engine mods... won't get you a good exhaust and it'll only get you a half-arsed suspension setup.

here's the options i'd recommend
1. change every piddley crap thing you can... ie fuel filter, water pump, timing belt, etc.
2. save save save. Exhaust will probably be round 4-500, you can get a set of a'pexi coilovers off ebay for 650, and engine mods = more $$.
3. buy a cold aird induction system and go out to red lobster.. save save save.
