Question changing anti freeze

i would like to change the antifreeze in my 1995 blazer its been a few years since it was done. I had the truck since 98 and i never did it. I think there is regular antifreeze already in it not the dexicool stuff. should i flush it out and just put the regular stuff in 50/50 mix or the dexicool stuff? does the dexi cool get mixed 50/50 with water also?

Re: changing anti freeze

If the present antifreeze is green looking, I'd do the drain and flush and refill with the green, or regular Prestone type. The Dexcool was designed to work with aluminum and iron combinations in late model engines, but the 4.3s have no need for this and the Dexcool is known to cause problems that really aren't worth the trouble. If you do go with Dexcool, it does not mix with the green standard antifreeze, you must flush it completely out of the system, and the Dexcool does mix 50-50 with water.
