AC compressor removal help

I have a 90 with 3.0 engine. plan to remove the AC compressor. the manual says
"...the compressor assembly will not clear the subframe and
radio support if an attempt is made to remove the unit from the bottom. it must be removed from the top.."

but the top space is also not enough with all other components in place (Power steering, etc), any suggestion/help?

Re: AC compressor removal help

I don't know how similar my 95 3.8 is but I simply removed the fan shroud along with fan, disconnected the manifold, unscrewed the four bolts that held the compressor in place (took out the two that I could) and wrestled it out from the bottom. It wasn't fun but it sure saved a lot of work. My compressor is on the passenger side down under the power steering unit.

Re: AC compressor removal help

hmmm, i might try that.

I found more detail from haynes service manual, it do point out that:
(1) remove power steering pulley first,
(2) remove power steering pump next,
(3) then you can work on the four bolts and take the compressor from top.
so I will deal with P/S first.
