possible short in steering column

well here is what is wrong, my dashboard lights are out, my turn signals are out, and my brakes lights are also out. when i turn on my left signal sound like my engine has a power drain. i checked all my fueses and relpaced all of those i listed because they were broken. but after five minuets of use the went out again. i was thinking i have a short in my steering column. i also installed my own stereo deck if that might make any difference( the possible wireing) please help!!!!

a follow up

i have found and fixed the problem, i bought a lot of fuses for my dash lights. i threw a new one in and started to remove bulbs one by one( exteriour not interior). when it came to my trunk i just unpluged the whole harness, including the harness for towing. and yup you guessed it, it was my towing harness. i removed it from the rear light harness and my problum has been fixed, also it has fixed alot of shorts that seemed petty( ie, my cigar lighter, i know, how would it short that out but hey it works) thought i would let everyone know
