leather upholstery vs fabric
I joined just to benefit from others experience - Thinking of getting 1998 - 2000 Honda Civic or Accord 4dr Sedan. Should I go for fabric or leather uphoslstery? Please factor in I have 3 dogs that travel in the car a lot. I have no experience with leather at all- Appreciate any input.. Thanks - first time poster.

Re: leather upholstery vs fabric
If your gonna have dogs inside the car. Then you can go ahead and say goodbye to the leather (or rover).Just having a dog's nails on leather will strech it a bit, leaving dirt and a small scratch.I guarantee it will be ripped within a week or two.If you go with cloth, you can expect some light cleaning now and then, and it will handle tearing a lot more than leather. If you dont want to clean it so much, you can go for some dark cloth.Don't forget to buy some febreze.

Re: leather upholstery vs fabric
Also keep in mind that leather aclimates to its surrounding temperature, which means on a hot day your seats will be really hot! This may not be appealing to someone who travels a lot! Leather is a luxury, fabric is more practical.

Thanks folks for helping me avoid a wrong decision. I would have thought leather was best for doggie abuse (easier to wipe clean) but didn't know the leather couldn't hold up to doggie nails. I am a practical person and am used to fabric and it sounds like it's best to stick to fabric upholstery. Even w/o doggies I wouldn't want leather if it heats up the interior more than fabric. Also leather would be colder in the winter! Never thought of both leather negatives - doggie nail damage (I thought leather could take the doggie abuse at least as well as fabric-not true per auto-forum advisor)and more extreme interior temperature. Thanks again for the great advise- MS_WINWIN
