Fog lights, side orange lights, ac, and windshield water

I recently got a 91 GTS
but it came with the following problems:
Fog Lights won't turn on, checked the light bulb (ok) fuese dunno which and where, but i already check most, they're all looking okay.

the oraange side lights that sits next to the headlights won't flash or turn on(again checked with the bulb and fuses)

now is where it gets complicated...
my front' windshield water squirter won't squirt out water for the wipers
but the back seems to be working

and i wanna recharge my a/c
there things i wanna know if it uses the legal a/c type or the illegel a/c type, anyway if there's anything i could do, please let me know, converting sounds like it would cost alot and i don't really wanna do that.

Have you checked the washer pump to make sure that its still good? I just had to replace mine the other day.

As far as the a/c goes, if it has been switched from R12 there should be a tag somewhere on the a/c system in the engine compartment saying so. If you plan on using the a/c alot its worth it to upgrade to the new stuff. I dont think your even allowed to use R12 at all anymore and because of that its really expensive.

Re: Fog lights, side orange lights, ac, and windshield water

hey, you can retrofit your ac to make it r134a. It costs 10 bucks at most part stores. Umm, about your lights, check the connections behind the bumper. Some are real crappy. that was my problem with the headlights. Oh, and the orange lights beside your headlights arent supposed to flash. They are just on and dont blink. The ones on your bumper are your blinkers/turn.
good luck

Re: Fog lights, side orange lights, ac, and windshield water

Hey, Are you sure about retrofitting r134a into my 91 celica?
I'm not even sure if adding that is safe for my a/c..
i wanna know what kind of a/c that 91 celica uses
r134a or r12...
if its true that i use r12, then is it safe that i recharge it with a r134a?

You celica would have come from the factory with R12. Its been banned or something though because its very harmful to the ozone.

I believe that the difference between the two freons is in the oil inside the compresser. I think sometimes you can buy a kit to convert the compresser but not all the times.

I would suggest you take if to a good shop for a/c work to make sure everythings done right

Re: Fog lights, side orange lights, ac, and windshield water

yea, its safe so far, for me at least.
I've done it on 10+ cars. Some of which: 90 Previa, 89 camry, 90 celica gt, 93 celica stx, and so on.
If your not sure, ask a part store like autozone or somwher. If you ask an AC shop, they will most likely overcharge you becuase they're business is seasonal, such as a themepark. They only make money on hot seasons.
good luck

Re: Fog lights, side orange lights, ac, and windshield water

OK, R 12 is not banned or illegal. Because of all the military and commercial air liners and such, not the automotive indusrty, they changed the laws on it making to where you have to be a licensed tech to buy and install it. i bought 9 cans last week. it is harmful to the ozone, but so is the stench that comes out of the behind of animals....is true, look it up...lol.... now, you can change over to 134 with no problems, only have to change 2 seals and fittings, both of which are in the same spot. you will need to have someone pull a vaccum on the system to insure there are no leaks before you go filling it up again thou.

Here in Canada I dont think you can buy R12 now, except maybe for certain situations where its needed.
