Uh Oh, what happened?

OK so i was driving back from work and then when i shifted into 3rd, and stepped on it the car began to stutter like it was misfiring or something like that (happened b4) so i let of the gas and tryed to shift into forth.

However after that the car wouldn't shift into any of the gears, not even back into fourth. Finally got it back into a gear and drove it home. and now it wont shift into any gears still.

The car will shift when it's off but not when its on.

BTW i have a ACT 2600 like a year old and a GS-T.

Just hoping its not tranny related.

Thanks alot.

Re: Uh Oh, what happened?

ok first thing... when its running, does it grind when you try to shift into gears?

second thing... if so, try adjusting your clutch so it disengages more...

third thing... if that doesnt work, its probably your throw out bearing or your clutch fork

fourth thing... if its none of the above... tranny is fucked!

Re: Uh Oh, what happened?

The fact that it shifts with the motor off and wont shift with it on, tells me that its 99% chance its a clutch issue. Which is good, as far as drivetrain related issues go

Could be clutch hydraulics. Check for fluid on the firewall under the master, or behind the boot on the slave. If its all dry, try to bleed it. If that doesnt help, I wouldnt adjust anything. That may just cover up the problem, and you'll have to reafjust once you get it fixed. It could also be the clutch/disc itself. Which of course requires tranny removal to check it out. That may or may not be a big deal depending on your skill level.

OK, yes it grinds when it tries to shift into gears.
So. . . how do i try to make the clutch disengauge more?

Bleed the cylinders because everything was dry and that did nothing. Gotta wait over the weekend to take it to somewhere with a lift to take a look at the clutch.

Of course this has to happen the day before import show at the local track!

I had the exact same thing happen to me and just about sh*t my pants, but it was only the throwout bearing. No big deal really. Pretty easy to fix. Just a little time consuming.
