I have a 90 Lumina. A mechanic that did some work for me told me the bearing was seized on the top of a front strut. He also told me that it was not a big deal that I could still drive it no problem. That was a while ago now and the car has developed a creaking noise. This occurs when I'm turning or to a lessor extent when I accelerate. Is it likely to be this bearing or would something else be causing the noise? Also if it is just the bearing can I just change that plate at the top of my strut?

front struts
Sound line the trans axles not the strut try turning the wheel all the way in a large parking lot and pushing the gas, Try this both ways also look if the boot is torn. Guess I never heard a noise from the strut unless it was broken then it will make some noise when you hit a bump.

Re: front struts
Thanks for the tip. I'll give that parking lot a try first thing in the morning.

Re: front struts
I just tried the parking lot thing. What I found was when I turned to the left there was a fair bit of creaking type sounds, but when I turned right it did not make hardly any sound at all in comparison. I also checked the boots. They appear to be in decent shape.
