What's your audio setup?

Please list you audio setup... HU, F/R speakers, subs, amp, box, x-over... and price of each item.. it'll give me and others a good idea on how systems are and how they're priced.

I currently have stock setup on my civic: a couple of 6.5" paper ones... *sigh*

List your car make and other stuff if ur sig doesnt already

sr20 ... you gonna have to tell us how that linear power amp sounds when you get it rolling. I know what you think about caps, but that may an amp that could really benefit from one.

Yeah you do have a point, especially with that Cadence sucking all the juice from the electrical system. I'll replace the necessities first though, I'm still running on a stock battery for crying out loud

hey sr20, i gotta ask you a question, lets say i want the p760mp, is it worth it to throw in another $100 for the p860mp? and if its worth spending a little more money, would you pick the 860 or the alpine 9831? the 860 cost a lil more than the alpine.. thx

what I meant was the amp has a very loosely regulated power supply - look at how much more power it produces at 14.4V than 12V. I think these types of amps benefit from a cap the most.

yeah that's what I was saying, the Cadence drops the system voltage and the LP suffers

I might go with one eventually, but it will come after a new battery, cams, clutch/flywheel and coilovers

No one can tell you if it will be worth it to you. For me, I would definitely spend the extra money for all the extra tuning features of the 860, but then again I'm willing to spend $100 extra dollars just for the display on the 9835 (the unit is identicle to the 9833, except for the display). My mom on the other hand, would think that anything over an entry-level JVC is a waste, see what I mean? If you think you'll use the extra tuning features of the 860 (eq, time correction, etc) then go with it or you'll upgrade anyway and spend even more money. If you know you'll never need anything like that then maybe you shouldn't spend the extra money.

As for Pioneer vs Alpine, just from playing around in the stores and my own experience with my deck, I would go with the Alpine. They seem to be more well built, and the rattling faceplate on my Pioneer has really turned me off of them as a whole. I didn't pay almost $300 to get a unit that the faceplate rattles more than any and every single panel in my entire car put together.

Re: What's your audio setup?

For me I would go cheaper... I have a CDA-9825, nothing fancy, it cost me 150 and it is an alpine deck. Sounds better than anyone I know who has an after market, whether Pioneer or other. I really don't need an mp3 etc. I will probably buy an external crossover though eventually.

ahh i c, well i think its actually between the alpine 9833 and the pioneer premier deh-p860mp if what sr20 says is right, and from what i see about the 960 then the extra $80 u spend for the 9835 and the 960 are just for cosmetics, the 9833 and the 860 have many good features imo

Yes it's very noticeable and annoying, sometimes I even drive with the faceplate laying down (like you're going to eject or put in a cd) so it doesn't rattle. A lot of it has to do with my car's vibrations. Intake, header, exhaust, stiff motor mounts, and an aftermarket suspension really take their tole, I think in a normal car it wouldn't rattle, but in mine it does and it gets on my nerves.
