Upper control arm?

Hey is it easy to install an upper control arm? I was told it was bad because when I went to get my alignment done, the camber was off on the front right wheel, and my suspension is totaly stock. It is bent. I bought a control arm today and want to install it now but the hanes manual makes it seem a lil difficult. Having my control arm like this is costing me a new tire every 2 months, and you can LITTERALY see it tilted inwards which looks weird. I want to install this myself but do I really need that special tool? its like a puller or something? What steps do I have to take to remove the control arm? most of you that install suspension should know this :-) All help appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

ok I installed it. It was easy as hell but the wheel still seems a lil tilted inwards. Might be the same I dont know. This sucks ass. At least I only paid 45 bucks for it at a junk yard. What is the name of that arm that connects to the upper control arm? The thing being held by a castle nut. I wonder if that could be bent too. Grr I had to remove the shock/spring (together) in order to remove the upper control arm. Stupid manual does not mention a gold bracket that the upper arm has.

Re: Upper control arm?

First off burn than crap ass manual that's good for nothing, then buy a real manual from www.helminc.com Factory/dealer manuals.

You really don't need to remove the strut assy. completely, just the top 3 bolts - pull down LCA to slide UCA over the top of strut.

The "arm" is called a steering knuckle

Is the car lowered?..........If it is you will need a camber kit to properly get the alignment back.......Take a look at the front set-up on mine. Its a skunk 2 camber/control arm.
