ground noise?? how to fix?

hey....just a question...i believe i have some ground noise from poor wiring. everytime i step on the gas...and the system is on pretty low...i hear some noise that increases as i step on the gas more.

am i correct that that is ground noise that i'm getting? and if so...can someone give me some advice how to fix this problem.

if i'm wrong...can someone correct me and help me out?

alright guys...i've searched a bit in this forum..and found some pretty good discusions about ground noise, but if anyone still want to give any further advice, i'd appreciate it.

alternator whine is usually caused by running your RCA cables next to a noisy device

i hear the noise coming from the subs though...when i step on the gas, it gets louder...but i can only hear it when the volume is pretty low...but when the volume is loud i can't hear it.

PaulD is right, but it can also be caused by a faulty ground. make sure you have a good groud and isolated RCAs and you should be gtg if not you prolly have a cheep component int he mix.

yes, cheap components occasionally suffer from poor ground isolation .... it allows noise on the power/ gnd wires to get into the audio path.

Just a side note, I had the same problem, I re-did all my wiring to as perfect as I could get it, seperated RCA, tried putting an on/off switch on the power, and everything else in the book. When it came down to it, nothing actually worked. My only succesfull "fix" was to turn the trebble gain way down, and match the bass to it (all on the AMP, not the head unit). After I adjusted the head unit, it sounds almost the same but without the annoying alternator noise. Wish those other tips helped, though.

The truth is, EVERY car has this noise .... just that better stereos suppress it, or it is so low it's not audible. It's almost alwaysose to a noise source or equipment with poor isolation.
