Re: Steering gear box replacement

I have to replace pitman arm on my 98 blazer and from what I have read I may have to take steering gear box out. I just finished doing ball joints and stabilizer bar links, is taking out gear box complicated?

Wow, you resurrected a 7-year old post!

But to answer your question, it is definitely NOT complicated to get the steering box out. But make sure to have the wheels straight ahead and your steering wheel properly positioned when removing AND re-installing. If done properly, you should not need any re-alignment of any parts.....

Good luck.

Re: Steering gear box replacement

Some will loop the seat belt through the steering wheel to keep it in position.
