89 dx hatchback - cuts out while driving

hi. i was wondering if aynone had any ideas about this.. my car cuts out (doesn't respond to pedal, doesnt accelerate, check engine light comes on) while accelerating after slowing down (stop lights, turns). if i do nothing it does, but if i keep on the gas it jerks back to accelerating after a second.. this was last night, and now it won't even turn over, just makes the noise like it's trying to but doesn't. anyone ever have similiar problem?

it just had an ignition switch changed because it would die after starting. before that, it wouldnt start at all, so the old alarm that was in it (i'm not the original owner) was taken out.

thanks for any help.. i really want to fix this, i love this car..

It sounds like it could be your alternator/battery, but it also sounds like your not getting fuel to the engine, so it might be your fuel filter, or fuel pump, you should prolly switch out the main relay to, cause the more i think about it, it sounds like it may be the Main Relay

i would say fuel filter, you could try that because its really cheap at like $20 because i bought one yesterday but its always more expensive over here

you said it threw an engine code? cross reference the light on the ecu with a manual, or post it on here.

It's always cheap and easy to check your rotor/dizzy!

my car does the samething....jerks when you hit the gas at a sertin RPM. mines throwing code 9(no1 piston pos.).everyone i talked to about it says its the sensor in the distributor thats burned out so the motor cant read where the no1 piston is so it missfires or someshit.
