Re: 305 tbi timing

well first off, there is a single wire, inline connector, an orange wire with a black stripe, in front of the passenger side firewall, you might have to look a while, but youll find it. with the ignition off, disconnect that wire. then start the car, and set the base timing to 0 degrees. then turn it off, reconnect the wire, and start it. the computer does the rest.

some run 10* ignition timing. Chilton's manual says 6*
i'd start with a baseline of say 6* and see how it sounds and runs, then fine tune from there.
you can also jump the A+B connectors on the service port to set your timing but i'd do what IROC said and and un-plug the timing advance wire on the pass. fender.

Re: 305 tbi timing

i think the six cylenders run the 10 or 6 degree advance, but i know from my own 305 TBI that you run the V8's at 0 degrees
