Thumbs down Gas Mileage

I have had my ECHO for 2 1/2 yrs now and just shy of owning it for a year I began to have problems with gas mileage. I was expecting that since 85% of the mileage are spent on the highway that I would get the mid to high 30's, but for the last year or so I have barely got 30mpg on the interstate. I just drove cross-country and as a cumulitave average I got 29mpg. I have asked plenty of ECHO dirvers about their gas mileage and I am the only one that has had this bad of a problem. Is there any one else that has had this problem? If so what did or what are you doing about it?

Re: Gas Mileage

How many miles on the car? Has regular maintenance been performed at recommended intervals?

Scheduled Maintenance

My car has 83,000 miles. Yes, all scheduled maintenance has been done, according to the Toyota Manual that came with my car. In addition everytime that a mechanic has pointed anything else out I have taken care of it with promptness. That is my frustration, I have nevr negelcted anywork on my car, and have taken extra steps to battle against the problem it has been having, cruise control, and more.

Re: Gas Mileage

Theres lots of things that can affect milage....

Make sure the front of your car isnt being cloged by a plastic bag or something....

Make sure that nothing is restricting your exhaust...

make sure your air intake isnt clogged...

properly inflate your tires.........

If you have a different sized wheel on your car, go get the ECU flash reprogrammed at a dealer...

Theres others, but this thread is old....
