Re: small bikes
The smallest Ninja is the 250. That's what I bought lsat month for my first bike, and so far I've had a blast with it. Haven't done much real riding yet since I don't have my reg sticker, just the temp, or my license yet, but I did take the MSF course. Brand new a 2004 Ninja 250 is $3000, maybe less if you pay cash or can work something out with the dealership. If you haven't already, I, as well as I think everyone on these forums would say, take the MSF course. Definitely worth every penny you pay for it. Let us know if you get the bike, and remember, have fun, but above all, BE SAFE!

Thanks for the infor I really appreciate it but I have a few questions if u dont mind me asking um
1. Wats the difference between sports and ninja bike?(I think I want a sport but not sure I'm confused..I just knoe its the ones from the movies like biker boys just a smaller version) 2. Is a ysr sports or ninja and is it smaller or bigger than yours? 3. How much u pay ayear for insurance? Dont have to answer if you dont feel comfortable with the question. All my life I thought u had to be 21 to ride in nyc and now I'm 19 n my friend just told me know you have to be 18 or older I got so happy when I heard that hehe and again thank you so much...nice bike! |

Re: small bikes
I could be wrong, others with more knowledged here may wanna clarify, but the classification of a sports bike is becoming blurred, specially now with "naked" bikes becoming trendy. I think to a lot of people, sports bikes have all the plastic. In that respect, the Ninja is a sports bike. If you look at my bike, it looks like most other "sports" bikes, but like you said, smaller. Not sure what you mean by the second question. Ninjas are a line of sport bike from Kawasaki. Currently I only have liability on my bike so I was able to get it home from the dealer. Liability cost me $57 for 12 months. When I get my license I'll add full coverage, which will cost me about another $350, again for 12 months. Keep in mind though, I'm also 26 w/ a perfect driving record, that helps me. As far as NYC law, not sure. I know with cars, you can't drive alone until you're 18, senior license or not. What applies to bikes not really sure. I'd be a bit wary of riding in NYC traffic, of course I also hate driving down there period. I live in Westchester, and ALWAYS train it to the city. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Re: Re: small bikes
The 250 Ninja is a "baby" sport bike. It has full fairings, but it has less engine, so new riders don't go out and kill themselves on the first day.... maybe the second, but not the first.
![]() If you are new to riding DO NOT GET A SPORTBIKE OVER 600CCs. You may as well ask for death to knock on your door if you do.

Re: small bikes
Maybe the second day, huh Saturn? I'd like to go on record that I've had my 250 for a month and am still alive. Actually got my MSF paperwork today, so going Mon to get my license. It seems like guys are to testosterone influenced lately. Guy was in the shop today when I went to order my new helmet, getting his first bike, and he bought a Kawa ZX-10. Wonder how long he'll last. It is one way to weed stupidity out of the gene pool though.
