Question 93 Z28 Help

Alright so I am a little retarded. I have a 1993 Z28 with the LT1. I hit the rear passenger side and will require the new quarter panel. Also I damaged the back bumper on that side and can now see there is a few layers back there. My question is, I am thinking it would be smarter to buy a different body and put my engine and all that into it. Or do you think it would be smarter to repair. If I were to buy just the body, can you someone direct me where to look to buy one cheap.

Thanks,

Re: 93 Z28 Help

Re: 93 Z28 Help

well actually i dont know, paint is expensive these days, somone hit my moms jeep on the rear quarter panel and that was like 1000 buck worth of damage, the question is how good is your paint?? are you going to need a new paint job or can you get the new quarter panel to match?? a good paint job will cost alot, probably as much as just a body of a 93 if you can find one thats not already damaged

if you have significant body damage to any quarter panels etc. you could deffinetly run up a bill, but it would probably still be better than changing the whole body, i mean do you plan on doing that every time you get hit, thats my point.

haha you got ripped off, when you just do it yourself instead of paying people, i got a whole 2 gallon paint bucket for $150, and thats enough for any car...

Re: 93 Z28 Help

i send people to the people who repair collisions, but were talking about repairs here, the same parts that would be on the body you purchase could be purchased individually, the work for transplanting a body would be much more, so i don't see what kind of logic youre using to justify purchasing a whole new body. what are you gonna say just go to a boneyard and get it, ok well then i say go to the boneyard and get the parts you need, spend less time doing the work, and you just saved yourself some money.

Re: 93 Z28 Help

and if youre talking about *new* parts, well if youre trying to tell me that all of them combined are less expensive than buying them individually which you could even shop around for that doesn't make sense either.

well im guess im trying to say that between labor costs and parts cost etc... it would be close to that of a whole body, if you can find one cheap, but your right, it would be more expenisive and time consuming if you bought a whole body because then you would have to swap all the shit over....and im talkin about takin the car up to the body shop and jsut sayin fix it, so they would supply the fender

Re: 93 Z28 Help

i think i might be able to agree to disagree with RIDGE if this were a third or second gen, cause you can find those pretty cheap in yards or where ever. considering that this is a fourth gen, i would say just get the panels and replace them that way. although i see where youre coming from ridge...
