Question new suzuki owners

Hi! New to this forum. Found it in a web search for just such a place. Am impressed that there are apparent experts here, such as tydog8.

Bought 99 Grand Vitara last year with 75k miles, mostly highway. Is now nearing 90k miles and we need to do 30k checks. I do not have service manual, but have all owners manuals.

I can do all but the timing belt (chain?) inspection. (I am told that I have hydraulic lifters so valve lash not an issue.) I am concerned what is necessary to get a look see at the timing belt. I have been told that it is 1.5 book hours. I have also been told that this timing belt has a serviceable life of 90k to 105k.

Is 1.5 hours for inspection a good deal. What can I expect for replacement costs?

BTW, Thanks to tydog8 for the hint on manuals at www.suzukipitstop.com. Damn Chiltons and such for not publishing aftermarket manuals.

Pat
