91 2.2liter cavy stall under load

Ok here is the deal the car will idle fine but when put in drive and I hit the gas pedal hard the car wants to stall out. Then when I put the ac on and the car is at idle it wants to stall also. It has new plugs, wires, belt, alt, batt, oil, and the tps is fine. Could the belt tensioner be bad causing it to stall while the ac is on? I noticed that after I changed out the belt the tensioner did not spring back very tight.

what is it?

You should check the IAC solenoid. You will need some carb cleaner and an old toothbrush is helpfull. It is located on the throttle body and is attached with two torx screws. Remove it, spray it, scrub it, you will see the carbon, then clean the hole it goes in. Be careful not to move the pintle in or out. If you do it will idle very high when reinstalled. You must then drive it at 35mph for about 5 minutes and you will feel it reset. I have done it and it feels very dangerous. So try not to move it. You may also change the fuel filter and use some fuel injection cleaner. If the fuel filter is clogged you may only be getting enough fuel to idle. The A/C requires about 5hp so this may be it.

The belt tensioner has nothing to do with this problem, but you may want to spray some oil in there. There is usually a gap in the plastic seal. Then work it back and forth with a wrench. You cannot disassemble these idlers. I should say you cannot get them back together. Good luck.
