I'm trying to wire in an electric brake controller on my 97 Chevy 1500. All wiring is complete except for taping into the "cold" side of the brake switch. Problem is I can't see it because it's above the steering column. Anyone know of another more accessable location to tap into? I really don't want to start taking apart the steering column supports.

'BOO' should be on the pedal

Re: wiring in an electric brake controller
Boy THAT sure is helpful. If understanding of the english lanquage wasn't elusive of you you would see from my posting that the switch on the pedal is not accessible.

well aside from suggesting 'RTFM', you will find up to 3 switch functions on the brake pedal - BOO (brake on/off) - which is how it is listed in the directions for your brake controller. there is also an electrical connector to disable the TCC (if equipped with auto) and a switch to disable the cruise - if equipped. Even if you cannot reach the switches (and you can - I do this nearly every week) you can surely trace the unique wire colors down to the column master harness just before it goes into the bulkhead junction.

Re: wiring in an electric brake controller
There's some useful information. Thank You. I can reach/touch the switch. I just can't see what I'm touching. Most of the wires are well taped and I was hoping to not have to start untaping wires hoping to find what I need. A trick of the trade if you will. BTW - never heard or seen the achronym BOO before your post. The installation guide only refers to connecting to the "cold" side of the switch (side that is powered when the brakes are applied). Something learned. RTFM, that one I know. Not covered in my manual either.
