2001 Cougar CD Changer Problems

I have a 2001 Cougar that I bought used and the CD player no longer works. The radio still works but I can't even play one CD, much less use the changer. Display just says something about CD ERROR. Does anyone know if this is worth fixing and how much it will cost? Or should I just purchase a different CD player to install.

Check the cd magazine to make sure that the plastic clips have become misaligned. This happen to me because someone dropped the magazine.

Thanks for the tip. I did take the CD player apart and noticed the plastic things that the CDs go into didn't seem to be alligned properly. I tried to adjust them but wasn't sure how they should go. Put everything back together and still have the same problem. Did you fix this yourself or bring it in. If you brought it somewhere to be fixed was it expensive?

I unscrewed all the litttle black screws on the magazine and then lifted the top or bottom piece of the magazine off, then pushed down firmly, you will hear the clips pop in. That solved the problem. Hope this helps.

I just noticed you took the "CD player" apart. I am just talking about the CD Magazine you slide into the changer.

You must have a different CD changer than I have because there is nothing that slides out of my CD player. I have a 6 disc changer right in the dash. You must insert or eject one CD at a time. Well I thank you for the help anyway.
