93 Escort GT Auto transmission problem

I had left my GT sitting for four days and when I got back, it would only shift from 1st to 3rd, and it wouldn't shift to OD. I stopped to fill up, and when I started it again, the transmission worked fine. This has happened twice now. Any ideas?

I had the same problem with my 93 escort. Now it never shifts into 2nd or OD. I read the codes off the computer in the car, and it tells me there is a #1 shift solenoid malfuntion.

If anyone has any ideas on what we can do to further troubleshoot this problem. please speak.

thanks,
Budd
