dakota timing chain noise

Does anyone know how long the timing chain in a 97 3.9 will last. It has been rattling for a long time. I was thinking of changing it. Do they have an aftermarket chain that will stop it from rattling. What a great truck, but at idle they sound like junk. I have 100K on it

thanks Jkdon

Common problem, they have added an oil slinger I believe. There might be a TSB for this.

Re: dakota timing chain noise

I have about 40k on mine, and each and every mile was driven hard. I still cannot kill this motor. I've been trying to, and my 3.9 still takes every bit of abuse I hand it. I'm proud. It's coming out right after it goes, though...
