Tires for 03 S-Type 4.2 sport

My Jag has 17x7.5 wheels.
Stock tire is 235/50/17
Can I go 245/45/17? 245/40/17?
Pros and cons?

The 245/45R17 doesn't have as much load capacity and the 24540R17's don't fit on the wheels.
