Relay,actuator, or function switch?

My 95 bonneville is haveing HVAC problems. Last year the Temp. control actuator when up and I had to drop the Dash to replace it. The heat works great but now the A/C is giving me trouble. I had my Cousin an certifed and trustworthy Mech. top of the R12 because it was low and now it blows at 42 Degrees. My problem is that the air only comes from the floor and the Defoger at the same time. It will not come from the vents. I have the same problem if I use the heat. I have pulled out he Control unit and the wires are intact. I would like to exhaust all options before droping the dash. Any suggestions?

Just had the same problem. I tried everything, but could not get to the AC programmer on the passenger side under the dash. I finally took it to the dealer, and the programmer was the problem. They had to remove the dash (charged 3 hrs labor) and change it out. VERY expensive... but it fixed it.

Re: Relay,actuator, or function switch?

It sounds as though a motor operated damper isn't shifting. Maybe the motor, or linkage?

fixed?

Pulled the dash and got to the vacumes. None of them were functioning with the dash controller so I pulled the programer. New programer $300 so I put the old one back in and used a coat hanger to hold open the vents. Jury rigged but it will work for now. I fixed the actuator that controls the damper last winter. Linkage and acturator are working fine. Thanks for the sugestions.

The *same* thing happens to my Bonneville. I found changing some of the vacuum hoses helped a lot, but still the vents don't push out any air. Wierd, but glad, to see others with the same problem - perhaps a Bonneville bug. Maybe I can try the coathanger route.
