Re: water pump

If its anything like a 92 then its not too difficult. Its been a while since I had that car, but iirc theres a chance a motor mount may be in the way of some bolts. If theres no motor mount then its not a big deal, just redo the gasket good. If the motor mount is there it is a bit harder.

What makes you want to replace the water pump? is it leaking? making noises?

Just a word of caution... I had to replace the water pump twice on that car and the problem was that the tensioner pulley was malnfunctioning and pulling the belt too tight making the water pump pulley break. One time it broke off completely. I laughed my ass off when I saw the pulley laying off to the side completely disconnected. Luckily the repair shop I took it to took responsibility for not checking the tensioner and gave me a break on the repair cost.

Re: water pump

You May Have To Remove The Coolant Resovoir To Get To The Water Pump. Since Your Car Is A 88 It Probably Has A 4.5 Sfi V8 If It Has That Engine Than You Must Take The Resovior Off.
