Surprised by a s/c tacoma

So I'm on my way to a job interview this morning, I have my tie, slacks, and everything on.

I'm by boeing again and I notice a red toyota tacoma behind me. The light in front of me turns red and the tacoma switches lanes when he sees this. We're both at the light and I see him rocking back and forth so I figured he is gonna go, so I get ready to go too. Now at the time, I'm thinking it's just a normal, base model tacoma, nothing special. (my oldest brother has a 2003 tacoma and it's not fast at all).

The light turns green and we both gun it, from the get go he's right beside me and I immediately figured out why. I heard the whining of his s/c. So I throw it into 2nd and I am starting to creep up and past him. About half-way through 2nd gear another light ahead of us turns yellow.

We both stop and I roll down my window and say nice run. He replied, "thanks, not bad for a stock s/c." He proceeded to tell me that his truck is an automatic and that his 1st and 2nd gears have pretty good power but the truck falls on it's face once he hits 3rd. So I ask if he wants to go again and he says sure.

The 2nd light turns green and we both gun it again. This time we're dead even all the way through 2nd gear and then I go to shift into 3rd and miss. As he pulled away I noticed he had a nice exhaust. It was a nice truck, I'll give him that. I shut down once I missed 3rd and we both merge onto the freeway. I cruise by and we give eachother the thumbs up and go our seperate ways. All in all it was a good time and good race.

I raced one from a slow roll before, he kept up better than most car's could. I was suprised.

Most guy's in trucks around here are redneck's that think they can't be beat by any asian make car. so he wasen't too happy about loosing.

lol...I hate that. But yea, I definately have a newfound respect for those Tacomas. They have some power. Granted, this guy's obviously had mods done to it....they're still nice trucks.

Beware the 6.0L Diesel Powerstroke from Ford! A 1 tonne crew cab single rear wheel with a short box, auto tranny and this model compilation will beat an '03 Mach 1 through the intersection from a stop!

Nice run! I love fast trucks

When did they start making them with superchargers by the way? I've forgotten when that was introduced....
