how much would it cost to bore a 460 out to a 525? is that a safe bet boring it out that much or should it be less?

Re: 460 bore $$$

Stroking is the way to go with 460s. They have a relatively short stroke already, 3.85"(4.36" bore). Stroker cranks are widely available. I don't think it is possible to bore a 460 out to 525 - that'd require a 4.65" bore, or a .290" overbore - HUGE overbore. Maybe with an aftermarket block, but even then, I highly doubt it. You'd spend probably $500 to get it bored, and then whatever it cost you to get a new block since you just trashed the one you had! How about a 508? Many companies offer a 4.140" stroke crank for a 429/460, which gives you 508ci. Waht are you planning on doing with this motor?

They did not bore a 460 to 525", they stroked it.
