After washing my car, the airbag light flashes continually. This has only gone on for a day. Should I assume it might be a wet sensor or should I take it to the dealership as the car remains under warranty. I wasn't sure if anyone else had experienced similar problems as well.

Re: Airbag light keeps blinking
New to me. I'd take it in. It'd suck to get in an accident in the rain and find out the hard way your bags don't work .

If the system cannot pass check - meaning all the airbags and sensors can be fully test on startup then the system is disabled and the light flashes.
Most likely: - one of the senors failed, or the wiring to is loose - around various spots in the perimeter pf the car - the sensor in the driver's seat has failed, or wiring is loose (common - since the seat moves back and forth all the time) - the clock spring wiring in the steering column failed to the driver's air bag The dealer can quickly diagnos.

airbag light of death
took it to the dealer. $160 bucks down the drain, something to do about a electrical sensor, but I dont have to worry about that bag blowing up in my face.

Re: Airbag light keeps blinking
You were exactly right! I picked the car up from the dealership yesterday. The light was on due to a loose connection under the drivers seat.

This is an interesting one to read as last winter I was chipping ice off the front of my car and ever since then, the passenger airbag light comes on when i start the car >> flashes at first, then stays on. I took it to my local guy and he said that I have to take it to a Dealership. Anyone ever hear of the sensor getting tripped cuz of knockin on the front panel of the car? That's the only thing I can think of that I did. It makes me mental

Re: Airbag light keeps blinking
When you first turn the key on, the light should be flashing a code before it goes on solid. Count the flashes and post the code(s) here, that will help us guide you to the likely culprit, and maybe help us correlate the suspect to knocking on the windshield.
To read the flashes, you could the flashes between pauses. For instance, if the light does: flash, flash, pause, flash, flash, flash, long pause, flash, pause, flash, flash, long pause, repeat this string a couple more times, then the light stays on constant -- this would indicate two codes, a code 23 and a code 12. -Rod |
