94 gti GTI wont start, i have spark, please help...

I have a 1994 VW GTI 2.0L, I just changed the ignition coil , ditributor cap and rotor as my car wouldn't start and had no spark.
Well, I now have spark, but the car still wont start. It just turns over and turns and turns but wont kick in.
do you think i put the timing out or blew the starter?? I get fuel no problem, I took the lines out from the regulator and made sure fuel was coming through when i start the car.

any help is appreciated before i make a decision to bring the car in.
