Just replaced headgasket, now engine won't start - HELP!
Replaced the headgasket due to a slight overheating problem. All indications were that the gasket was bad, however, once inside, it appeared the only problem was the intake gasket. Replaced both, put back together, and can't get it started now.
Was running well previously, even after slight overheat. Not pingin, knocking, etc. Engine will turn over, but not firing. Have checked the timing chain, electrical connections, vacuums hoses, etc. to no avail. Please...any suggestions!? |

Better post what year/engine/car you're talking about. I suggest you post this in the appropriate car forum.

Check distributor position, camshaft position in chain, sensor wiring for crankshaft position, other sensors whose wiring may have been disturbed, even accidentally.
If the wiring is all ok, sounds most like a ignition timing or valve timing problem. Cracked the distributor cap? |

Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions! Ended up that the plugs fouled when we tried to start it, apparently just at the first. Replaced the plugs, it lit right off! However, part of the problem of running rough at that time ended up being on of the injectors.
Again, thanks for the help! Keep on driving Toyotas'...you just can't beat them~! |

A little suggestion, you should figure out why it overheated to cause the blown head gasket, if you havent already. Otherwise, you could end up blowing another one.
