Would a 1997 mercury cougar engine be compatible with a 1991 mercury cougar?please let me know if you have the answer or a site that does have the answer. thanks

i guess it might help if you guys also know that the 91 is a LS had a v6 3.2L and the 97 engine is coming out of a Xr7 also a v6 3.2L.that might make things a little eaiser

3.8L not 3.2L, and yes, it will physically fit, but the 97 uses EEC-V and the 91 uses EEC-IV, so there would be massive amounts of reprogramming required.

what if i where to take the computer module out of the 97 cougar and put it in the 91 would that save the headaches?
