vtech?

my friend just bought a 97 civic and doesn't know if it is a vtech, how do u tell? it is the ex model

turn the car on. put it in neutral. push the gas pedal all the way to the floor so that the rpms max out and you bounce off the rev limiter a bunch of times. if your "VTECH" light comes on, then you know.

EX's came with VTEC stock

92-95 and 96-00 or 01 ( i cant remember when they changed to the present generation) EX's all have SOHC VTEC. Its important that you know that this isnt the same VTEC on the SI models of 99-00. The EX only has VTEC on the the intake lobs of the cam shaft and the grinds arent as aggresive. The b16a series engine that comes in the 99-00 SI, and some del sols have VTEC on both the intake and exhaust cams, plus higher compression ratios, and various other small helpful changes.

hmm vtech i only heard of vtec in hondas not vtech is a type of phone or sumthin all 96-00 ex models engine code d16y8 are vtec (valvuable timing electronic controller)
