Putting CRX Si Cam into D15B2

Hello again folks. I've been absent from the forum for a good while now. I have been working my butt off to save up the money to redo my suspension work. I only did simple stuff. I had some worn tie rods and bad bushings. With your advice, I got them all repaired. I have to tell you, the car is a totally different machine. It rides, handles, and brakes much better. Thanks for the great advice!
Now, on to my questions. My 89 CRX DX is "blessed" with the D15B2 engine. I'm to the point where it is about to be overhauled. It has 217,000 miles on it and uses some oil at 3,000 rpms and up. I'm going to pull the head and get it rebuilt, replace my rod bearings, oil pan gasket and as well as the rest of the engine gaskets and seals. I know I should probably look into an engine swap but, my wife prefers to keep the stock engine. Hell at 40 MPG I agree with her! I've heard that I can put in a CAM from an 88-91 CRX Si into the D15B2 engine. Is this true? if it is, what kind of performance gain can I expect to get? Thanks for the help folks!

Troy

I would imagine 1-3 HP max from the Si cam.......you can also take one from a 88-91 Civic Si.....

I would also think about putting the tranny from the 88-91 crx si onto your d15, it has better gear ratios IMO. And if you wanted to you could also swap the DPFI to MPFi, that would give you the biggest power gain

I think the Si cam would give you more of an increase than 3 hp. Im thinking for on the terms of 5-10 depending on what RPM you are at. You'll feel it alot more after 4,000 rpm. I've had people ask me if my car "had a vtec" because when I hit 4k my engine tone changes and it really starts to pull. And thats my d16a6.

If I remember, the D15B2 head, and the D16A6 heads are the same. Injection, and manifold are the differences.

He's right, I did the Si Cam swap with my DX motor, and I noticed a big differece after 4g's really starts to pull.
