Re: air bag light
No but mine is on to after messing with a yellow plug under the dash you might have to take it to the dealer and get it reset about $85 bucks

Re: air bag light
the yellow plug that you messed with BTW is the clip that activates the airbag.. if you unpluged that.. its not gonna blow it just gonna sit there.. plug that yellow clip back in.. and you dont need to take it to a dealership.. unlike most cars..honda airbags are activated just by pluggin in the yellow clip..

Re: air bag light
I found a small link to the MES connector.. there is a large SRS section in the honda service manual, but this website http://www.hondalac.com/service/Bulletins/x98-077e.pdf shows where the MEMORY ERASE SIGNAL is it recommends using a 07paz-0010100 conector for the jump but im pretty sure all that is is a jump wire... but if you want to do it right they are pretty easy to find online for ~ 4.00 bux

Today I suspected my battery was dying on me, when I noteiced a loose wire on the + terminal. There I was tightening the damn nut when I accidentally caught the bulkhead with my ratchet handle and saw a few sparks. Now when I start the engine the SRS warning light stays on all the time, I checked the fuses but theyre OK. Now I know the SRS system comes with a back up power circuit under the dash, in case the battery is totalled during impact, just what this thing comprises of I do not know. I was wondering that if the back up was drained in some way, such as changing the battery, would it register a fault with the SRS self diagnosis circuit? And would this make the warning light stay on until it was reset? Surely the system would realise that power had been restored and once the back up system was charged again, the diagnostic system would realise this and turn the damn light off? Or is this just a way for Honda service centres to make some extra cash by resetting the SRS system? In that case if there is no way to reset it easily, and we have a good idea why the system is showing an error, would it not be a better solution just to take the SRS waring lamp out of the instrument panel? If anyone has a better underatnding of the SRS back up power supply and self diagnostic system, I think their input would be very useful, because I'm just clutching at straws here. Please advise...

I just found this on another form:
There is a yellow plug under the dash that has two wires going into it. the plug is plugged into an empty socket by the fuse pannel. take that plug out, place a jumper wire into the two holes connecting the two. turn the ignition key on.(lights on do not start) the srs light will go off, within 4 seconds, unplug one side of the jumper wire, when the srs light comes back on plug the jumper back in,(within 4 seconds) the light will blink twice and go out. unplug the jumper and turn the ignition key off. wait 15 secongs, then start your car. the memory will be reset. replace the plug and you're set. If it works, let me know. I'll try it tomorrow. |

Changed the battery, tried the reset, didn't work. Subsequently decided that I can live without air bags so disconnected both driver & passenger air bags and removed the yellow plug from behind the instrument cluster. The warning light is off and it's as if SRS never existed (apart from the fuel pump cut off, which is still enabled). Time for a new steering wheel I think.
