Re: best engine swap

how about this?

Engine: 1988-1991 JDM B16A
Displacement: 1595cc
Compression Ratio: 10.2:1
Rod/stroke ratio: 1.74
Hp/Torque: 160hp@7600rpm/112lb-ft@7000rpm
Transmission: JDM S1, J1, Y1, A1 (cable)
OBD: 0

depending on the model of you car you may need to rewire it for multipoint injection

Re: best engine swap

where are you located?

yes you'll have to swap the tranny. you'll also need to purchase engine mounts, shift linkage, wiring harness (depending on the model of your civic) and axles. there are other smaller parts that you'll need to replace.

i just did a b16a1 swap and it costed roughly $2700US

Re: best engine swap

This subject has come up a million times. You should do a search and get yourself educated on what it is you are doing. but since I am already writing, I would opt for the b18c1 gsr motor. You should be able to pick up one of them with tranny for around $2500 if you shop right. THen you will have to get new mounts, shif linkage, wiring harness, ecu....etc. as mentioned above.

Re: best engine swap

for a first time swap i'd recommend doing a b16 swap. the b18c motor is obd1 or obd2. options are converting either back to obd0 or obd1. but converting back to obd0 is the easiest route. you could convert back to obd0 but that would mean getting an obd0 distributor, obd0 vtec ecu, obd0 sensors and plugs. you'll also have to get rid of the dual runner intake manifold because the odb0 ecu doesn't support the dual runners. you COULD use odb1 injectors if you don't use an injector resistor box. your tranny that comes with the b18c would by hydraulic so you'll have to use a hydro-cable conversion kit by hasport. in the end for the extra 10 horses you'll be spending alot more money and the b16 is the easiest swap by far.

Re: best engine swap

Ya that is true it would be a much more difficult swap for 10 horses, but dont forget the extra torque, but all in all as you said it would be alot easier to do a b16 swap!

90-91 Civic Si-R
90-91 CRX Si-R
These are both obd0 engines.
