Question 2003 factory XM radio into a 2002 silverado

My question is can it be done? I already have the factory radio, xm module, antenna and wiring for the xm part. I just tried to install the radio today and the plugs are different, will this even work because I know about programming the radio for the vin but I don't know if the 02 had this feature?

Re: 2003 factory XM radio into a 2002 silverado

I could be werong, but will the 03 radio even fit in the the 02?? I don't think it will. Also, they 03's have a completely different wiring scheme than the 02's. I haven't perosnally researched this, but I'm thinking your out of luck. I posted a thread about this some time ago, maybe do a search for it?

It LOOKS like I can take out part of the dash that the radio bolts to and swap it out to make it physically fit but my main concern is the electrical part of it. And to your question I did do a search and I did read into your post but no definate answers were given.

From what I've been told, the wiring is something odd.? I dunno. Maybe you can transplant the plugs also??
If you try it, please let me know. I've been wanting to do this for some time now..

If you didn't already have the parts I'd say just go with an aftermarket XM tuner. I put the "XM Commander" from Terk up where rear A/C controls would be if it were a Tahoe or Suburban.(Mine's also '02) I actually like my screen better than the '03 factory one as it shows more than one line of text at a time. However, I do understand the desire for your truck to look like it was a factory option.
