Golf gti Rieger gto evolution project *Update: 05-07-04*

As i'm new to this forum let me begin by introducing myself;
My name is Erik i'm 21 years old and this project is my second car model i will be building.
I completed this first model (which is a VW Golf) about 3 months ago, and decided that i could try making a wide body version of it.
This idea started when i saw the website of Rieger Tuning, they had a wide body kit for the golf, which looks awesome. (in my oppinion )

So, enough talk, lets show some pics

This is my first model i built.

I bought the same model to start the wide body conversion with.

The front bumber was already finished before i thought of making pics of it

The body must be smooth and clean, so i smoothed out the rear hatch and door handles

As with the front bumper i used the original bumper as a mould sort of...

Then filled her up with polly putty and started grinding.

The rear bumper is atached to the body and the wide body is taking shape

After a bit of work this is how it looks.

It still needs details like air intakes, but that i will do tomorrow.

Quite a daring project for a second model, but by the looks of your first. You definately could pull it off. Good work Erik!

Thanks for the possitive replies.
A small update, no pics on the progress but some ideas i would like to share:

The hood;
i'm thinking of making this with a carbon fibre look. But as i have seen in another thread i will need an airbrush of some sort to pull this off, as i dont own one i will need to buy it or borrow it *i'm pondering on this one :P*

The rims;

I would like to have rims that are almost the same as the one rieger tuning uses

but as i have not seen one's similar to those my insterests also go out to these

thats it so far for my small update. I'm going to sleep now

Re: Golf gti wide body project From a new member

The Rallye Golf ain't as wide as the Rieger one. This wide body tuning is kind of old school in Germany, it was popular and modern in the 80s. But nevertheless, nice model.
