Re: Motor Swaps

Do NOT get a 2600 motor. This is from a guy that has owned a 2600i since new. I love the truck but the last 4 years the motor has gone to crap. I found out that I have been lucky too as the 2600i's are KNOWN to have head problems. $500 a shot for a reman or rebuilt head, and I have done it 2x in as many years. Go for the 302/5.0, especially if you jave a 2wd truck, then it is EASY. Get a Explorer, 94/95 mustang or I think 91-92 T-bird motor. EFI and they are the 3 shortest length 5.0's Ford ever made, at least a inch shorter than a normal 5.0 The explorer is the shortest.

I am now going to put a 5.0 motor in mine with 94/95 mustang front assembly, AOD. I will get a Advanced adapters adapter to mount a toyota transfer case to it to maintain the 4wd.

so, a 5.0 mustang engine can hold i the 2600i, someone said that I would have to move back the firewall, and change my rear axel, I understand the changing of the rear axel, but I was not too sure about moving back the firewall. Is this true?
