Bose Stereo
I have the Bose premium system in a 95 Aurora. My 12 disc is not working. Can I purchase a normal stereo (factory) which came in the standard aurora of the time? The stereo that has a cd/tape deck instead of the one I have now that only allows tapes to be played cuz the 12 disc is in the back. Would that work with all the scenarios that the Bose systems presents?

Re: Bose Stereo
No I believe not because if I recall right the bose system works off of a 1 wire system to a speaker. The norm is a 2 wire (+/-) system. You will either need to get you disc changer fixed or get a replacement. You might be able to replace it with an aftermarker one. I'm not sure maybe someone else can point that one out. Should be the same wires you would think.

I Assume the that '95 had the DIC.
If you remove the bose radio - you will lose the time / date capabilities of the DIC |

The bose system is 2 wire for each speaker. I just added an after market mp3 player and it wired right up with the same colors.

Re: Bose Stereo
I assume the original poster had the 12-disc factory changer? Good news is that unit (I believe manufactured by JVC) was used on lots of GM cars. Keep an eye on eBay, you'll see these go for $100-$200.
As some of the above posters have said, the Bose is not plug-compatible with the normal stereo, and if you don't put either factory unit in, you'll lose the steering wheel controls and date/time on the DIC (unless you can find the right wiring harnesses - I'm told Crutchfield sells these, but I can't vouch for that as I've never talked to them). |
