D16A6 into 92 hatch and turbo?

my stolen 90 Si was returned to me after six months and still has the engine and tranny.. so i'm donating the engine to a friend for his 92 civic DX.

i know the engine will bolt right in.. will hte injectors plug right in?

the dizzy plug will have to be changed...

any major wiring issues there?

also he wants to build it up to run 20 lbs of boost..
can we use the stock cam and stock head and valvetrain?
what rods, pistons and rings should we get?
should we do anything else to the bottom end besides new bushings, rods, pistons and rings?

we're gonna build it up and drive it a little before we turbo it so turbo questions (and prolly lots of them) will come later hehe

Re: D16A6 into 92 hatch and turbo?

SO NOT WORTH THE TIME AND EFFORT. Also a illegal swap if you have to smog it. And you would have to use all the 92 ecu, intake, injectors, blah blah... So what are you getting out of this? A number on the side of the block. You may see like 5-10 hp out of the stock application. It would be better if you just turbo'd the 92 dx without the motor swap.

Re: D16A6 into 92 hatch and turbo?

what's inspection?

what's immissions?

this is minnesota man.. land of open headers and straight 2 1/2" exhaust!

so if we turbo the d15 we'll still need to put pistons and rods in it right?

could we just toss the d16 head on the d15 block with new pistons and rods and be golden?

Re: D16A6 into 92 hatch and turbo?

the D16 will be stronger to boost in stock form, it also has more aftermarket support for internals.

If i were you, i would swap the longblock. Keep the D15B7 intake manifold and everything. the distributor and everything will bolt right up.

swap in d16a6 and turbo the hell out of it

Re: D16A6 into 92 hatch and turbo?

they are all the same casting. same valve sizes, everything. the only difference is the valvesprings & retainers and the cam.

I recommend this to all my poor friends.... Get a D16Y7 head. It has the smaller combustion chambers like the d16z6. It also has the same larger valves of the d16y8/d16z6. You can get a cam for the y7 the same as the a6... Y7 heads are dirt cheap!
