Time for the typical high-mileage 240 tuneup.

-Replace fuel filter with one from a 300zxTT
-Service AIV Valve, EGR Valve, MAFS, TPS, Coolant Temp Sensor
-Inspect all vaccum lines for cracks, leaks, misconfiguration, replace any needed
-SEAFOAM
-NGK Spark Plugs
-02 sensor

I've owned three 240s now, a S14 and two S13s. My thrid one was horrific...I was lucky to make it back to my house. It stalled out every time I let off the gas, it had a terrible warm start problem, and so on. I did those six things and it ran like absolute new. Perfect acceleration, smooth decel, no popping, purring idle, everything. Good luck.

Re: why is this?

hey j spec nightmare are bosch platinum spark plugs good??? I wanted to get NGKs but they were $10 a piece, the bosch's were $2 bux so I don't think it will make that much of a diff.

NGK are most definitley worth it. If they were 50$ for the set, they would be worth it. They kick the living shit out of the Bosch's. That engine is designed to work with NGKs.

I usually don't go by the price to determine if something is good or not, but 5 times the price rpobably means they're at least a little better. ;-)

Re: Re: why is this?

on a n/a motor copper plugs arnt necessary b/c they do not require a colder spark.. platinum plugs will be the best bang for the buck.. but i agree that bosch sucks ass.. but $10 for ngk is a rip off i paid 10.55 for my set of four ngk v-powers.. they usuall ratail for about !.50 tp 2.20 each with copper plugs.. for $10 a plug you might as well pay a little more and get denso iridum.. look on line they are cheap as hell there
