Update on my car... hope you don't mind

Hey guys. I first introduced myself about a month back and posted up some pics on a crappy geocities site... showing the installation of my racing apron. I just finished painting it over the weekend... had the paint matched and laid 5 coats of paint and 4 coats of clear on it. First time I ever painted anything and it came out great. Gonna color wet sand in one week to get out the orange peel.

Here's a link to a car domain site I just set up... had to get away from geocities. You'll see the car in all its glory with the apron painted at the bottom of the page. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/620905

Sorry for going off topic, I don't mind if you wanna close it or move it 'cause it is way off topic but thought I'd share anyway.

I promise one of these days I'll get into a street race...

Thanks here's a list of mods:

302 V8 with roller cam
Edelbrock performer aluminum heads
Edelbrock performer rpm airgap manifold
Headman long-tube headers
Bigger than stock radiator
Cruddy Edelbrock carb
K&N Filter (with top filter, huge waste of money most likely)
K&N Oil Filter (dunno why I even list it)
Lowered control arms to Shelby specs (entire suspension restored and nothing but poly bushings)
Monte carlo bar and export brace for body stiffening
Edelbrock IAS shocks front and back
Auburn Gear posi-traction
Currie Enterprises 8" housing
Ford Racing aluminum drive-shaft
Roll bar
Crow Enterprizes harnesses
Momo rs gt seats
Momo competition steering wheel
C-4 automatic transmission with manual pattern valve body
B&M 3,000 RPM stall convertor
B&M ratchet shifter
Edelbrock 454 16x8 wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich G-Force T/A KDW's (I don't like replacing them, makes my wallet cry)
Fiberglass rear seat replacement panel
Front fiberglass racing apron with brake duct cooling kit
SSBC 11" front disc brakes
Sony X-plode sound system

Can't remember everything... a lot of that doesn't even matter. I can never remember the exact specs to all of my engine components so I'll go out in the garage sometime and grab it (written on a notepad, pathetic).

Thanks porshhh951.

Re: Update on my car... hope you don't mind

Car looks tight, but what is with the big gap in the middle? I understand needing air, but does your car need that much? Anyways I hope to see you at the track.

Thank you. Yeah 40 year old interiors don't cut it for me...

Dunno yet... last time I ran I did it with my 289 which was worn out... got a 15.8.

Using desktop dyno and a bunch of other convertors online my next 1/4 mile times should be in the 13's. But I'm not the greatest 1/4 driver so I'd be happy with low 14's.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it.

The huge gap in the middle is indeed to increase airflow, and Shelby mustangs did indeed need that big of an opening back in the day. I never had cooling issues but wanted to put the GT-350 apron on it anyway 'cause I always thought it made the mustang look mean and different for the street (notice no front license plate, *looks around for kojak*)

There's an R-model that Shelby made for SCCA racing. The mustangs came with lil postage stamp radiators and had trouble with overheating, especially after he dropped 450hp engines into them.

But don't worry, my apron isn't completely rice... the two lil holes to either side of the gaping mouth are ducts that run to my disc brakes, which cool them. I actually noticed a difference and was able to rest my hand on my calipers for a long time after running it hard.

Re: Update on my car... hope you don't mind

Very nice. I should show these to my friend... he's got a '66 289, I think he'd cream his pants over those pics. I'm jealous.
